I think this is AWESOME!
My freshman year here at Miami I was in a geology class where my teacher tried to convince all of us that Earth was going to run out of drinking water in our lifetime. Whether or not that’s true, I don’t know but I do know that this device will be so useful for poorer countries and I bet grassroots organizations are going to be delivering them like crazy, especially if they are as inexpensive as planned.
Maybe they’ll come up with a portable one and you’ll see it on Man V Wild?

hahaha…Bear Grylls doesn’t drink from cones! But I definitely could seem him “ingeniously” coming up with a new way to evaporate and drink water out in the middle of nowhere.
This does seem like a cheap and relatively functional idea. My only concern is that you can only create about a glass of clean water at a time, so either everybody needs to do this or they’ll need a way to make this bigger and still reasonably easy to use.
